Black Magic...What is It

I really don't know where the name "Black Magic" came from but I have a feeling it comes from the dark corridors of evil. Now I really don't know if all black magic is evil or not but just the sound of it seems to deliver that kind of message. Maybe it has originated in Africa where the Witch Doctors do their mystical healing with magical powers and their little bag of goodies that have amazing effects on whomever they are applied. It may have originated in the deep dungeons of Castles or large buildings where there was endless hope and will power to stay alive in the battles over countries and life itself. And then there is the Ouija board. Does this conjure up only Evil ones or does it depend on the thoughts and general attitude of the people using the board. I have heard it opens up doors and pathways that anyone that has the sense to find food, will not want to travel through. I have heard it can attach Demons to oneself that may stay around for decades. Now that really sounds attractive and desirable.........if you like Black Magic...............

Cracked Ribs

A few days ago I come rambling down the stairs of my apartment completely unaware that it had rained a light drizzle in the morning. This also made me unaware that the bottom stair still held water. So being completely oblivious, I wasn't paying much attention when my foot landed on the bottom step...and then my body was in mid-air. Of course I couldn't be normal and fall flat on my ass. I had to do some kind of gymnastic spin in mid-air and land sideways. My left chest area crashing hard against the bottom step.

Three cracked ribs and a severely pulled ribcage muscle. Sweet. Of course the only treatment for this most painful of maladies is rest and pain management. Opiates were out of the question given my history and new dedication to staying far away from the drug. I promptly ripped in half the Vicodin script, and decided I was going to tough this one out. Under the best of circumstances, the soreness and pain won't be going away for three to four weeks.

I can barely move. I am not certain I have ever been in this much pain in my life. Ever. Rib injuries are the most painful injury on the planet. One thing I am certain about though is I can make it through this shit without pain pills. This is a good thing. Vicodin would just lead back to dope and dope just leads back to...well you get the picture. Sometimes trial by fire is the only way to prove to oneself that you are a survivor. I can get through this. Until then, everyone needs to go fuck themselves and leave me alone. Have a nice day.RC Edrington
